Governor Hickenlooper Agrees, Fracking is Good for Colorado

In his memoir, Governor Hickenlooper says he supports safe and responsible oil and natural gas production in Colorado. He recognizes that the economy and security of both our state and country rely on fracking. Governor Hickenlooper writes:

“Based on experience and science, I recognized that fracking was one of our very best and safest extraction techniques. Fracking is good for the country’s energy supply, our national security, our economy, and our environment.”

Governor Hickenlooper recognizes that fracking provides thousands of jobs, more than one billion dollars in tax revenue, and clean energy to Colorado. He also writes that fracking is one of the safest oil and natural gas extraction techniques available to our state:

“I knew that the innovations in technology, everything from the hydraulic fracking systems to the fluid, had become so advanced that it was a remarkably safe extraction method.”

In 2016, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the first federal regulations of methane emissions. As Governor Hickenlooper states, Colorado is in a good spot when it comes to these new regulations. In fact, Colorado’s regulations are even stricter than the EPA mandates.

Fracking will continue to provide the economic benefits Colorado needs while remaining a safe and clean way to provide energy to our state.
